Global hackathon brings together participants to develop artificial intelligence solutions focused on urban challenges - Press release

Rio de Janeiro is consolidating its leading role as the Innovation Capital of Latin America. Next Sunday, May 24th, the city will host the first Brazilian edition of the Claude Impact Lab, a global hackathon dedicated to developing artificial intelligence solutions for urban challenges. The free event will be held at Porto Maravalley, an innovation hub located in Rio's Port Region.

Promoted by Claude's ambassador in Brazil and co-founder of Taicor, João Lisboa, in partnership with the Rio de Janeiro City Hall, the Claude Impact Lab is part of an international program focused on creating public impact solutions through AI. The initiative has already been implemented in cities such as San Diego, Miami, and Santiago, and now arrives in Rio to explore the possibilities of Claude, an artificial intelligence system developed by Anthropic.

During the event, participants from different areas will develop projects focused on themes such as Health and Public Safety, using artificial intelligence and data analysis to support public policies and improve decision-making in the city. Proposals may include everything from tools for the preventive identification of healthcare needs to solutions for integrating databases for strategic analysis in the area of security.

Rio has been consolidating itself as an increasingly favorable environment for innovation and technology. Hosting the first international edition of the Claude Impact Lab reinforces the city's position as a hub for artificial intelligence and the development of solutions with a real impact on people's lives — stated Osmar Lima, Municipal Secretary of Economic Development.

With support from the Municipal Secretariat of Economic Development (SMDE), the event is free, open to the public, and requires no prior experience in programming or artificial intelligence. The aim is to encourage the formation of multidisciplinary teams, bringing together participants from various fields.
of technology, design, business, communication and public policy.

In addition to hands-on activities, participants will have access to specialized mentoring and will present the solutions they have developed to a panel of municipal authorities and leaders in the AI sector. The event will also include prizes in the form of credits for using the Anthropic platform.

Rio de Janeiro has been strengthening its position as one of the main innovation and technology hubs in Latin America, with initiatives aimed at attracting investment, expanding digital infrastructure, and encouraging entrepreneurship and the creative economy. In the coming weeks, the city will also host events such as Rio2C, Maravalley Week 2026, and Web Summit Rio.

Registration for the Claude Impact Lab is free, but spaces are limited. More information is available on the event's official website: https://luma.com/3i0rkczmThe event is sponsored by CCPAR, Visagio, VTEX Segura AI, Taicor, and Maravalley.
