The General Data Protection Law known by the acronym LGPD (Federal Law No. 13.709/2018), was created to protect personal data in Brazil, establishing rights for the holder and rules so that information is processed appropriately, ensuring greater protection and transparency to these processes.
The Municipal Executive Branch, in October 2021, launched through the Municipal Decree 49.558/2021, the Municipal Data Protection Program, which aims to improve the procedures necessary for the adequate processing of personal data, respecting the right to personal data protection, as provided for in the LGPD.
The Municipal Secretariat for Economic Development – SMDE, as an agency of the City of Rio de Janeiro, has been working to implement best practices, make the necessary adjustments to comply with legal obligations and facilitate service to citizens holding personal data.
