
A Municipal Secretariat for Economic Development (SMDE) It is the body of the City of Rio de Janeiro responsible for developing the economic development policies of the city of Rio de Janeiro.
The department's responsibilities include the creation and management of several projects related to the sustainable economic development of the municipality by improving the business environment, as well as the preparation of economic impact studies, providing support to government entities from different spheres, journalists, investors, researchers and citizens.

Municipal Secretary of Economic Development
Osmar Lima is a Production Engineer from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), with a Master's degree in Production Engineering from COPPE/UFRJ and CFA Charterholder certification. He has over 14 years of experience at the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), the last seven of which were dedicated to project structuring. At BNDES, he was head of the Real Estate Solutions Structuring and Urban Requalification Department, as well as investment manager in private equity and credit analyst in the industrial sector. He is currently Secretary of Economic Development for the City of Rio de Janeiro, leading initiatives aimed at attracting investment and developing the city. He is also president of Companhia Carioca de Parcerias e Investimentos (CCPar), the company responsible for structuring and managing the city's main Public-Private Partnership projects.
